Not one, not two, but three WBC (Washington Building Congress) craftsmanship awards for Emerald Ironworks, Inc. this year! In all three cases we were nominated for our work by the General Contractor--what an honor. Projects nominated for WBC Craftsmanship awards are judged by commercial construction and RE professionals. Our award winning projects for 2023 are the three sets of feature stairs (including a curved one) at Volkswagen's new HQ (James G. Davis Construction (DAVIS), a sweeping and structurally robust stair for One Bethesda Center's new lobby space (James G. Davis Construction (DAVIS) and our extensive scope of work at Amazon's new HQ2 (Met Park) with Clark Construction Group which included four sets of feature stairs, 1,800 linear feet of railings, and over 155 tons of structural steel.

Appreciation to HITT Contracting Inc. for entrusting Emerald Ironworks, Inc. with the ornamental/misc. metals scope for the renovated NBC4 HQ in Washington, DC. The work included three sets of feature stairs, each with unique guardrail designs, glass guardrails around the newsroom overlook, and various handrails and decorative metal throughout. The newly imagined space is exciting to walk through and we're proud to have been a part of it!

Emerald Ironworks, Inc. recently competed three sets of feature staircases for Volkswagen's new HQ in Reston, VA. We partnered with long-time client James G. Davis Construction (DAVIS) for this important and high-profile work. The schedule was tight yet everything came together seamlessly and with zero punch items. The curved stair features a structural steel sub-frame and an interior guard (painted white) made from rolled 5/8" thick solid steel plate. The straight stairs features perforated panels installed into machine-milled posts.
