Happy Tuesday, Inclusion! I’m pleased to announce that our Mentor/Protégé Volunteer Event at Meals On Wheels of Tampa was an outstanding success! During our service hours, we were blessed to be able to deliver non-perishable food as well as emergency evacuation forms for the shut-ins and less mobile members of our community. If you were able to serve with us on the 15th, we thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to serve our community. If you were not able to make it, do not worry – we have other opportunities in the future for volunteering that we’d love to have you participate in! Today we celebrate #Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation, finally bringing freedom to the last enslaved African Americans over 2 years after it was issued. Juneteenth is a day to reflect on the suffering caused by slavery, honor the perseverance and courage of those who fought for abolition, and rededicate ourselves to building a more equitable society for all.
