Well done, Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee! The successful completion of the Bridge Academy marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to ensure uniform training standards for law enforcement statewide. The Bridge Academy was an essential element of the landmark 2020 police reform law, designed to bridge the gap between prior officer training and the new standards required for POST certification. Congratulations to the MPTC, its many program partners, and all of the participating officers!

Today, EOPSS Deputy Secretary Susan Terrey was proud to join a dedicated team of federal, state, and local partners who have worked hard all year to ensure that the July 4th Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular at the Hatch Shell is a fun, safe, and family-friendly celebration for all. Events of this magnitude present unique challenges and require extensive planning. Massachusetts has a proud history of strong relationships among our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. Our unified approach and combination of resources support our collective ability to prepare, prevent, and respond as needed. The EOPSS team is deeply grateful to our many partners, including the Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Massachusetts National Guard, MBTA, Boston Police and Fire, Cambridge Police and Fire, EMS, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra for their essential role in safety and security planning for one of the Commonwealth’s most beloved celebrations. We look forward to welcoming thousands of revelers to the Esplanade. Here are a few safety tips to ensure a safe and fun celebration: - See something, say something - Leave the fireworks to the professionals - Practice water safety, especially with young children Happy 4th, Massachusetts! 🎉
