Rochelle is celebrating #PrideMonth, sharing her thoughts on what it means for her to be an LGBTQ+ ally, as Regional Director and Chair of Equus' Equity Council. “Until you tell me your story, I’m not going to assume your story for you. That has been great for me personally, professionally… because I think it opens the door for individuals to be transparent and bring things to me that they might not bring to others. I am very proud to serve as the Chair of our Equity Council at Equus. In my mind, no one should have to change who they are to come to work. We want all of our employees to feel like they can be their authentic selves, embrace their identity on all levels each and every day."

We're excited to share #PrideMonth reflections from our team members on fostering inclusivity. Syd, an HR Specialist with our San Diego Regional Homeless Assistance Program, was asked how they incorporate Pride into their daily life, at work or at home. "As an HR Specialist, I find it extremely important to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all coworkers. I began introducing myself with my pronouns during new hire orientations. I always give people the opportunity to disclose their pronouns on their first day, so they know we want them to feel welcomed and appreciated. And I have little Pride flags in my office and my email signature so that other LGBTQ+ individuals will know that they are free to be themselves here!"

Memorial Day is an opportunity to remember and honor the brave individuals who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Their courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice afford us the freedoms that we enjoy today. We hope you find time this weekend to reflect, spend time with loved ones, and honor the memory of our fallen heroes.
