This morning I had the opportunity to meet Antoinette Phonharath, the Technical developer of Extended & Inclusive Sizing at Evelyn & Bobbie's Portland HQ. I became familiar with the brand & their quality product during the pandemic, when I purchased my first (of many) of their Defy bra. It was the perfect for "work from home" bra - enough shaping and support to look/feel like I was actually dressed up for the office, with the comfort (i.e. seamless, no underwire!) of wearing pj's & a sweatshirt, a.k.a #wfhchic. My visit today was part of an ongoing study & wear test to gather more data of diverse bodies, allowing them to continuously learn and improve on their already-inclusive product offering. Inclusion has been a priority from the beginning. In fact, they were the very first bra brand in the world to launch inclusive nude tones. On inclusive sizes, a quote from their website acknowledges there is still work to be done, and broader size ranges are always top of mind: "Our work in inclusivity is neither perfect, nor complete. Far from it. (Smaller than C-cup ladies, we hear you. Bigger than 3X ladies, we hear you, too.) But we are here, we care, and we are doing our damnedest every day. Bree R. McKeen" I left today's fit session fulfilled in so many ways. Not only did I leave with a bag full of gorgeous supportive undergarments to try (I'm looking at you, Evelyn bra in limited-edition Ruby red with laser cutouts), but also pride in knowing my feedback will help make future products even better for more people, and doing so supports a local, women-owned business that shares my same value of equity in size inclusion.
