I’ve been thinking lately about Snowplow Parenting, a parenting style that seeks to remove all obstacles from a child's path so they don't experience pain, failure, or discomfort. Yes, Snowplow Parenting paves a path for a child to have an easy road ahead. It might be easier and more convenient for the child when the parent talks to a teacher on their behalf, and a better college application might get produced when the parent does all the legwork. Here's a question: What becomes of a child in the long run when parents remove impending obstacles? Will the child learn the grit and resilience needed to thrive on their own? (Probably not.) As parents, remember, we’re planting seeds. Let that seed grow. Allowing your child to trip and fall from time to time isn't a bad thing. Let them form some callouses and hit some bumps along the way, so that when they’re in the real world on their own, they can face obstacles with confidence. Yes, help your child and be there for them, but more importantly, help your child learn to help themselves! I'd love to know what you think about this parenting style. https://lnkd.in/egiP9rQi
