Summer Internship Spotlight: Gabe Fleis is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Central Florida (#goknights). He has joined us for a summer internship in our Operations & Engineering group. During the summer, he’s been working to improve a conformal coating process by 3D modeling additional tooling to improve efficiencies in the process. He’s also worked to standardize work instructions in several manufacturing work cells. During the summer, he’s learned more about the business side of an organization, how to be a good leader, and promoting a healthy work environment. His favorite part of the internship has been the people – he’s enjoyed meeting the team, and has especially enjoyed lunches with our Senior Leaders. When he’s not working or in school, he enjoys movies, hiking, camping, and water sports like wakeboarding and surfing. We’ve enjoyed having Gabe on Team Extant this summer! Summer Internship Spotlight: James McGovern is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering at Florida State University (#gonoles). He has joined us for a summer internship in our Operations and Engineering group. During the summer, he has had two primary focuses. First, he used SolidWorks to create new manufacturing molds for several aircraft systems. Since then he’s been working on designing an expanded stockroom and developing a more efficient stocking system to reduce time spent stocking and pulling parts. This summer, he’s been able to learn how to use AutoCad, and learn more about 3D printing. He’s also been able to improve his public speaking and presentation skills. His favorite part of the internship has been going out to lunch with various Senior Leaders in the business, having an opportunity to speak candidly, ask questions, and get advice on his professional future. When he isn’t working or in school, he plays hockey for FSU, enjoys boating and water skiing, and spending time with family and friends. We’re enjoying having James on Team Extant this summer! He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida (#gobulls), served in the United States Navy, and has over 7 years experience in the Safety field. When he's not working, he builds mechanical keyboards and PCs, skateboards and ride motorcycles, and also collects retro games and equipment.
