About us

Family Legacy is a faith-based, Christian, God-led organization that exists to glorify God by empowering vulnerable children in Zambia to live out their God given potential. We do this by engaging more than 10,000 individuals and families from around the world with God’s heart for these children, face-to-face and heart-to-heart, through the power of God’s word, quality education and residential care. With over 15,000 Zambian children attending one of our private Legacy Academy schools, Family Legacy is not an orphanage or a missionary organization or an economic development organization. We are a unique NGO focused on caring for orphaned and vulnerable/at-risk Zambian children on a variety of levels, and are guided by our faith in that calling. In Zambia, Africa, over one million of the six million children are orphaned and countless more are vulnerable from the effects of poverty, lack of education, HIV/AIDS, and community rejection. We connect American families to these children to alleviate both physical and spiritual poverty. We seek to transform the nation of Zambia into a lighthouse for Africa through sharing the Gospel of Jesus, providing high-quality private education, and by placing it's most vulnerable children in a safe home and community.

You may recognize these sponsors from The Forge, which is out in theaters now. Cameron Arnett's character plays a man willing to invest in the life of a young man-- sound familiar? Grateful to him and the 10,000+ sponsors who are investing in, praying for, and supporting those speaking into the God-given purpose of the 12,000 children we get to serve in Lusaka, Zambia.

Listen in as a mother to one of our students shares how the drought in Zambia has affected her family's everyday life. Right now, we are fundraising to provide our schools, staff, and students with resources to help during this season of devastating drought to include solar and alternative energy resources, medical care, and nutrition for those most impacted. Would you consider joining us in this effort? We are $30K into a $280K goal, and every donation matters. https://lnkd.in/gcW4aVWG

Here in the US, our students are heading back to school, but in Zambia, our students won't head back for Term 3 until this September. In the meantime, we are praying James 1:5 over each of our students. Will you 🙏🏻🙏🏿 join us? "And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and He will give it! He won't see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with His generous grace." (James 1:5 TPT)

Learn from Vutiwe Zulu, head teacher at Mtendere, about how the drought is affecting our schools. In addition to load shedding, the government is rationing the limited water supply to make it last. Our Legacy Academies connected to city water have not had reliable water for weeks, so we have brought in trucks full of potable water to replenish the water tanks, ensuring clean water for our students. These are costs we did not expect this year, and your donation to our Drought Relief fund will help us continue to provide vital resources, like clean water, to our schools. Learn more, and consider making a donation today. 🫶🏿 https://lnkd.in/gnnSDhiQ
