Farmers Insurance Open (Century Club of San Diego)

Our Members, staff, and families recently spent time at New Haven Youth and Family Services, Inc. cleaning up around the campus. We painted the gazebo and weeded and cleared the healing garden and field as our way to support their students and remind them that the larger community is here for them.   A Champions for Youth participant since 2019, New Haven provides care, education, and treatment for youth with emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges. In honor of National Foster Care Month, we are proud to highlight our longtime Champions for Youth partner, Promises2Kids. Every year, Promises2Kids helps more than 2,000 current and former San Diego foster children. Through their programs, Camp Connect, Guardian Scholars, Foster Funds, and the A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center, Promises2Kids provides these children with a variety of resources and tools to empower them to grow into healthy, happy, and successful adults. This morning, our Champions for Youth partners attended a Nonprofit Board Training Program facilitated by United Way of San Diego County, in conjunction with the University of San Diego’s Nonprofit Institute. We discussed governance, leadership, and strategy, along with ideas for practical implementation. A huge thank you to Travere Therapeutics for supporting this insightful session designed to bolster our partners’ long-term efforts in furthering their missions!

Great conversation in today’s Nonprofit Thought Leader Summit on building organizational culture. Thank you San Diego Foundation‘s Danny Kim, Taylor Harrell from MAAC, Christiana Tasto with Nonprofit Solutions, and Tony Teravainen from Support the Enlisted Project (STEP) for sharing their insights. We are grateful for the partnership with San Diego Gas & Electric on this initiative to create an open dialogue around the challenges nonprofits face, and brainstorm on solutions to ultimately better our community.

This weekend marks the first major step in a new era of PGA TOUR golf production: nine state-of-the-art production trucks, built by NEP Group, Inc., will be onsite for CBS Sports, Golf Channel, and PGA TOUR LIVE for the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego. The trucks provide a consistent and stable production hub for PGA TOUR broadcast partners CBS/Paramount+, NBC/Golf Channel/Peacock, and ESPN+. The fleet will serve as production hub for seven live shows: the network broadcast, four PGA TOUR Live streams on ESPN+, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio, and two live streams for IMG Arena, the tour’s official scoring-data distributor for betting operators. With an eye toward the future, the TOUR and its media partners worked together on a solution that combines all technical resources into a singular fleet, allowing better sharing of resources — such as tee-box cameras or green-side microphones — while also equipping all broadcasts with the absolute latest in technology. In addition to serving as the technical core for production of the seven live shows, the fleet will house the PGA TOUR Rules Review team, which will work with Hawkeye replay systems.
