About us
Our mission is to ignite the spark of curiosity in Appalachian youth so they see themselves and their futures in new and exciting ways. We offer more than a job. From day one, our dedicated Mission team utilizes a holistic youth development approach focused on social-emotional learning and the development of the individual’s assets and gifts. Through paid on-the-job training, civic engagement and workshops that focus on transferable work, life, and leadership skills, we provide a safe and nurturing platform where they explore, challenge, discover, and dream. This multifaceted approach maximizes all the benefits of teen employment and transforms the workplace and our social enterprise businesses into dynamic living classrooms.

EARTH DAY WORK DAY WRAP-UP 🌎 We are overwhelmed with appreciation for our town's hard work and dedication to cleaning up Wardensville Town Park. Thank you to everyone who teamed up with our Youth Giving Committee and the Friends of J Allen Hawkins Community Park for an Earth Day Work Day this past Saturday. The space looks fantastic, and we look forward to our community enjoying our newly-cleaned park and freshly painted bridges!

REFLECTING ON SEVEN YEARS OF GIVING BACK If we had to share just four things we're most proud of over the years, we'd say: → LAUNCHING FIVE SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSES that serve as living classrooms for local youth, where real-world work, life, and leadership skills are built into every shift. The most recent addition was in 2023 with the opening of Mack's Bingo Kitchen, recently voted West Virginia's Best New Restaurant. → AWARDING $201,145 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO 47 LOCAL YOUTH with the most recent award round totaling almost $20,000 for the 2023 school year. → DONATING $313,492 TO OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, this year alone raised over $21,125 for the Wardensville Volunteer Rescue Squad, Capon Valley Volunteer Fire Department, and our youth led Youth Giving Committee that makes decisions on local community grants. → WELCOMING 273 NEW HIRES, 112 BEING LOCAL YOUTH. Presently, we employ over 70 people, many of whom started in our Junior Crew program for local youth and are now staff. We also have 13 new youth currently enrolled in our 2024 Junior Crew program. WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT. THANK YOU. We look forward to continuing to ignite the spark of curiosity within Appalachian youth in 2024 and beyond! We can hardly believe it's been almost nine weeks since we opened our restaurant! Thank you to all of our guests and supporters for helping us provide a well-rounded hospitality experience for local youth to complement the opportunities offered in our farm, market, bakery, and glass studio living classrooms. We grow more than vegetables. We're growing the next generation.
A tiny mountain town overflowing with charm, Wardensville is nestled within the Potomac Highlands region of the state and is less than a 2-hour drive from the D.C. Metro area. The town continues to celebrate the opening of a new restaurant that is now part of its picturesque main street🍴🌟 Farms Work Wonders #AlmostHeaven #WVTourism #dining #farmtotable
