Many thanks to the Enterprise Mobility Foundation™ for their generous donation of $2,500 to our mission. On July 16, a team of four from Shields Health came to the Yawkey Housing Resource Center (HRC) in Quincy, where they prepared and provided sandwiches, bagged lunches, and soup to guests and visitors. We are grateful and appreciate the support from Shields Health as the HRC served as a cooling center, offering our guests relief from the heat. Thank you, Shields Health, for supporting our mission. #NobodyShouldBeHomeless #HelpFBMS #thankyouforyoursupport

On Friday, June 28th, we had the privilege to host the 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders in partnership with Bridgewater State University. The dynamic group displayed great enthusiasm and a genuine interest in understanding our organization's mission. To embody the spirit of community service, the team came together to prepare bagged lunches for our guest participants. Following this, the talented young leaders toured MainSpring House, our emergency shelter in Brockton, and Jeff's Place, FBMS' permanent supportive housing building. During the tour, they asked insightful questions about our agency and the services we provide to the community. #NobodyShouldBeHomeless #HelpFBMS #Brockton #community

This past Wednesday, FBMS staff Jonathan Lanham, MSW, FBMS' Chief Operating Officer, Kate Fulton, FBMS' Director of Program Development, and John Yazwinski, FBMS' President & CEO, participated in the New England Homeless Summit hosted at Assumption University. The summit convened over 250 experts, including federal officials, Washington-based politicians, local legislators, and numerous regional service providers representing New England. The engaged audience attentively listened and actively contributed to formulating solutions aimed at addressing the escalating housing crisis. During the day-long conference, John Yazwinski took part in a panel discussion centered on the importance of developing strong partnerships. The dialogue revolved around the necessity of coordinating and communicating effectively across local, state, and federal levels to allocate resources, establish priorities, and devise collaborative solutions to address homelessness. Sean Glennon from the City of Quincy Planning Department and John Yazwinski participated in the panel, exemplifying the significance of our collaborative relationships. Special thanks to Rhonda Siciliano and HUD for organizing the summit and Juana B. Matias, HUD's New England Regional Administrator, for hosting the summit. https://lnkd.in/gxDiSNxq #NobodyShouldBeHomeless #HelpFBMS

It was a great pleasure hosting government officials from City of Wichita Kansas last week for a tour of our innovative Yawkey Housing Resource Center in Quincy. Wichita's Housing & Community Services department is exploring the possibility of opening its own housing resource center. In recent months, we've connected with leaders from Worcester and Amherst and from communities across the U.S. — including Maine, Maryland and now Kansas — who want to replicate our bold model to end homelessness. #changingthemodel #quincyma #brocktonma #housingfirst #NobodyShouldBeHomeless

Father Bill's & MainSpring (FBMS) congratulates Katie Scanlon on receiving the Excellence in Human Services Award from Community Services of Greater Brockton on June 13, 2024. Katie's dedication to her work at FBMS as Prevention and Diversion Manager in our Family Program at our Brockton office has been evident through her team's efforts in successfully diverting numerous homeless families from entering the overcrowded family shelter system. She and her team have provided support and served as a beacon of hope for families facing housing crises. The following is an excerpt from Katie's nomination by Geoff Gagnon, FBMS' Associate Director of Family Prevention Services: "It is through her knowledge of the shelter entry process and community resources, her supportive and nurturing management style, and the successful outcomes of her team over the past year that make Katie more than deserving of this award." #HelpFBMS #NobodyShouldBeHomeless #Humanservices #brockton #teamFBMS
