FHWA Administrator Shailen Bhatt was proud to join Texas Department of Transportation leadership, Executive Director Marc Williams, at the TxDOT Bridging the Gap symposium, to highlight the transformative work the agency is doing to address homelessness, including their efforts to establish the Esperanza Community and partner with community organizations to help meet the needs of residents. With commitment to tackling transportation challenges, it has proven, that when we blend innovation with community focus, incredible things happen. By integrating housing solutions and job training programs into transportation projects, we're not just moving people from point A to point B – we're building pathways to opportunity and prosperity. The Esperanza community serves as a model for other states and communities to inspire their own projects, and we're excited to partner with communities nationwide to replicate this success. Together, we can address transportation challenges holistically, improving lives and connecting people to basic needs and services that everyone deserves.
