Feeding America is the nation’s largest food rescue and hunger relief organization with roots stretching back to the 1960s. Today, the organization helps rescue nearly 4 billion pounds of nutritious food annually that would have otherwise gone to waste, but we want to do more. We're calling on everyone to join the Food Rescue Challenge -- an opportunity for individuals, companies (like our partners at General Mills, Starbucks, and Gary and Barbara Rodkin), and communities to come together to make a significant impact on reducing hunger and helping the planet. Together, we can prevent an additional 1 billion pounds of good food from being wasted and in turn, help people facing hunger. By rescuing more good food from going to waste, we not only help millions of people put food on the table, we also reduce the environmental impact generated by harmful greenhouse gases via landfilled food waste. Every donation, share, like and mention helps us to reach this important milestone in the movement to end hunger... will you join us? #FoodRescue 🍊 Learn more here ➡ bit.ly/3VX5Sxp

As we work to catalyze the movement to end hunger, it’s vital that neighbors with lived or living experience with food insecurity lead. This month, Feeding America hosted the 2024 Elevating Voices: Power Summit in Washington, D.C., welcoming nearly 50 neighbor-advocates nominated by food banks across the country. Already changemakers in their local communities, these participants fueled their future work through advocacy training sessions, conversations with decision-makers and networking to build connections. #Advocacy #ElevatingVoices #EndHunger

Federal programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) help close meal gaps for our neighbors facing hunger—and we have a chance to strengthen these critical programs now. 🖊️ Ask Congress to pass a strong, bipartisan farm bill to help people facing hunger access the food we all need to thrive: https://bit.ly/4bNFJXf 🧡 Share this post to help fuel the movement to end hunger!

As we celebrate #PrideMonth this June Feeding America's CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot had the opportunity to sit down with Care for Real's Executive Director, Gregory Gross. Care for Real is a non-profit in Chicago that aims to foster a healthy and equitable community by helping neighbors and families overcome food insecurity with dignity. Watch as Claire and Gregory discuss three questions on food insecurity, the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and what gives Gregory hope in his work and mission to #endhunger.

Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot and Banco de Alimentos de Puerto Rico Executive Director Mari Jo Laborde participated in a roundtable with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries yesterday to discuss food insecurity both in Puerto Rico and across the United States. The roundtable was held at the food bank and included leaders from Puerto Rican government agencies, nonprofit organizations and people with lived experience. In 2023, Leader Jeffries established the Task Force on Agriculture and Nutrition in the 21st Century to better understand the intersection of agriculture and nutrition and support a strong farm bill that invests in farm and nutrition programs. Food banks cannot help our neighbors facing hunger without the partnership of farmers, producers, growers and retailers—all are integral to our nation's food system. We look forward to Congress passing a strong, bipartisan farm bill that helps farmers and people facing hunger.

We're thrilled to share that Feeding America recently had the privilege of participating in the #FoodAsMedicine summit alongside many of our esteemed partners in healthcare and food access! Our panelists, including Melanie Hall, Elise August, and network members, Randi Shubin Dresner and Gideon Adams, had impactful conversations with key leaders in the Food As Medicine space, such as Elevance Health and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that delved into the vital intersection of nutrition and wellness. It was so inspiring to see this group of forward thinkers working together to promote health and well-being among vulnerable populations while fostering collaboration across sectors to address systemic issues of food insecurity. At Feeding America, we believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food, and collaborations like these are crucial steps toward making that vision a reality.
