I want to bring back Fifth Wall's "Fly on the Wall" video series, where I interviewed some of the biggest CEOs in real estate. It started in the pandemic and we've since stopped it, but I'm thinking we should revive it. We constantly talk to CEOs from our strategic network of 110+ real estate strategic LPs about their tech priorities and investing in our funds. They open up to us in ways they don't with any other firm out there, and I feel like especially in today's environment people are hungry for answers on how real estate leaders are thinking about the future. 👷♀️ Congratulations to portfolio company Trunk Tools on their $20M Series A Funding! "Generative AI is really good at making sense out of unstructured data. The construction industry is really good at having unstructured data." Enter Fifth Wall portfolio company Trunk Tools. Founder Sarah Buchner got her start construction industry, where she's seen over 3.6 million pages of documents delivered for a single high-rise building in New York City. (Fun fact: Those pages would stack three-times as high as the building.) A majority of rework happens in construction because the wrong data is with the wrong person at the wrong point in time, according to Sarah. Trunk Tools wants to fix that by making construction documents more readily accessible via generative AI and a text message interface: a co-pilot for construction sites. (Their second product is trunk.perform, which is incentive management software.) Construction is the largest industry in the world by transaction volume, but it has been slow to adopt technology. 🔗 Proptech integrations are hard. It's been this way for over a decade. Remen Okoruwa, CEO of Fifth Wall portfolio company Propexo, thinks that proptech can solve this problem by taking a page out of fintech's playbook... Companies like Plaid and Stripe have made it extremely easy to build integrations into banking, and Remen thinks proptech is on the cusp of a similar revolution. Many leading property management softwares, companies like Yardi and RealPage, were founded in the 80s and 90s. They can be difficult to integrate with, causing expensive delays for proptech companies. Remen says that's why Propexo exists: to standardize, simplify, and modernize integrations into property management software. #proptech #multifamily
