The ANSWR™ heat pump delivers high-temperature hot water up to 180°F using eco-friendly R-744 (CO2) refrigerant, offering heating, cooling, domestic hot water, and simultaneous capabilities with efficiency and reliability. Flow Environmental Systems had the pleasure of presenting a case study with Berkeley Lab and Rongxin Yin this year at the ATMOsphere America Summit in Washington, D.C. Working with ProspectSV and CEC, we are able to show significant energy savings of 54% annually and operational costs saving on a typical office building, all while using a natural refrigerant (R744) heat pump!

Flow heat pumps operate on the principle of heat transfer. They act like a reverse air conditioner, absorbing heat from a cool source (air or ground) and transferring it to your home for warmth. In the summer, the process reverses, extracting heat from your home and releasing it outdoors. Unlike traditional systems that rely on burning fossil fuels to generate heat, flow heat pumps utilize electricity to move existing thermal energy. ASK Energy, Inc., Ecotope, Inc., and AESC, Inc. are kicking off a CalNEXT research project to advance the development of an innovative, packaged, plug-and-play commercial CO2 #heatpump for simultaneous hydronic cooling, heating, and domestic hot water.
