Nation's leading nonprofit scientific research network catalyzing breakthrough discoveries to treat & cure food allergy

About us

Food allergies are a growing public health concern affecting 32 million Americans including 8% of children. Despite the prevalence of food allergies, very limited progress in diagnostics and treatments has been made over the past 40 years. Since its inception, FASI has made tremendous progress in advancing our knowledge of food allergies, pioneering important new research discoveries in the gut-brain axis, and forming an interdisciplinary research team of world-leading scientists to unlock the mystery of food allergies. Founded in 2016 at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, the Food Allergy Science Initiative (FASI) was spun out in 2021 with the mission of uncovering the root causes of food allergies through rigorous scientific research and deploying new therapies to treat and ultimately cure them. FASI is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that encompasses 20 world-class labs across the U.S. and includes more than 100 researchers coordinated across diverse fields from immunology and neuroscience to computational biology and engineering.
