Taking the leap to start your own business is really really daunting. How do I find clients? Why would they pick me over someone else? At what point will everyone realize I'm just a trench coat filled with cats faking it til I make it? Kavit Haria's post below really reminded me of the intentional mindset shift and talk track I often have to give myself. When you're feeling insecure it's so easy to fall into a scarcity mindset and it requires a real kick in the pants to shift back into abundance.

One of the biggest challenges I see coaches encounter is building their audience — i.e. their “top of funnel”. You might be great at what you do, and you might get referrals every now and again, but how do you get in front of new people consistently with organic content? And how do you then turn those followers into clients? In fact, I just received an email about this last week… "My biggest block/concern is that I feel like I don't have enough of an audience. How do I grow my business or my email list without followers? I put out content and it feels like it is falling on deaf ears. I want to be able to make an impact AND build my client list AND build my business. It feels like I am stuck in slow motion and a slave to the algorithm." This resonated deeply with me, and I bet it does with many of you too. So, let's start by diving into a strategy to overcome this challenge and really get your coaching flywheel spinning. 1. The "Abundance Amplifier" Mentality When you're struggling to grow your audience, it's easy to fall into a scarcity mindset. You might find yourself thinking, "There's not enough clients to go around," or "Why would anyone choose me over established coaches?" This mindset can paralyze your growth and dampen your creativity. Let's flip the script with what I call the "Abundance Amplifier" mentality. Reframe Competition as Collaboration: Instead of viewing other coaches as competitors, see them as potential collaborators. There's enough success for everyone, and often, working together can create even more opportunities. Celebrate Others' Successes: When you see another coach succeeding, genuinely celebrate their win. This trains your mind to see success as abundant and achievable, rather than a limited resource. Focus on Value Creation, Not Comparison: Instead of worrying about how you measure up to others, concentrate on how you can provide unique value to your clients. Your unique experiences and perspective are your superpower. Adopt a "Learner's Mindset": View every challenge or setback as an opportunity to learn and grow. This resilience will fuel your progress and inspire your clients. Practice Gratitude for Your Current Audience: Whether you have 10 followers or 10,000, cultivate genuine appreciation for each person who engages with your content. This positivity will shine through in your work. Visualize Abundance: Regularly imagine yourself impacting thousands of lives through your coaching. This vision will guide your actions and decisions. Use Affirmations: Start each day with empowering statements like, "I attract the perfect clients who value my unique gifts," or "My impact grows exponentially as I serve others authentically." "A rising tide lifts all boats. As you grow and become more successful, make sure you're bringing others along with you. There is enough success for everyone." - Zig Ziglar I’ll share 2 & 3 in the coming days.

Considering a switch to consulting but feeling overwhelmed by the unknown? As Peter Drucker once said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” Yes, the transition to consulting can be daunting, filled with numerous ups and downs, but it’s also an opportunity to carve out your own path. One thing I’ve learned in my 4+ years of consulting is that success in this field relies as much on building connections and asking for help as it does on expertise. Want to speed up your learning curve? My Consultant Getting Started Guide shares the lessons I learned during my first few years that I want you to avoid! 🎁 As a bonus, there's a discount code on playbooks for all new subscribers. A common path for folks is to purchase the guide, then grab "Ask Me Anything" time to dive into your specific goals and get personalized coaching and advice. Discounted AMAs are available for career coaching! Some may ask, “Why are you sharing your secret sauce?” To me, consulting is not a zero-sum game. I choose to live in an abundance mindset where there are more than enough opportunities to go around. I’m grateful for the wisdom and camaraderie from fellow consultants and want to extend that support to others. On that note, Fractional People People has been an amazingly supportive and trusted community over the last year for HR consultants. So, dive into my guide and book an “Ask Me Anything” session to kickstart your consulting journey. Link to both are in the comments 👇 Have any questions? What if no one will endorse the book?! This deep fear gave me the blues for weeks when I was preparing to run my testimonials campaign last spring. I anticipated failure and let that paralyze me. Now, when I flip through first pages of my author copies and read the phenomenally kind words of my colleagues, I'm truly moved. I can't wait for you all to be able to see these endorsements soon! ❤️ I spent part of the morning signing copies for an incredible group of industry leaders that wrote recommendations for "The Alchemy of Talent," my new book coming in September! The act of gathering addresses, writing messages, and signing books filled me with gratitude for the community of supporters and champions that are behind this project. I even enjoyed going to the post office to do this mailing...and that might be a FIRST. 🤣 Just a few more weeks until launch...thanks for journeying with me. 🚀

FPP IRL = #abundance, #support and #joy vibes only ✨ We are almost one month away from getting together IRL with fellow FPPers, our chosen coworkers, to learn together, laugh together, and support each other as we plan our solopreneur business goals heading into Q4 and 2025. How did this start? We listened to our members, and then we said "hey Buck Bracey - if we hang out in Austin, would Alotten be open to being our lead sponsor so this crew can get together?" to which he said "BIG YES". 🙏 We are so excited to welcome our sponsors Alotten, Justworks, Leapsome and PEO 360 as honorary FPP team members for the week while together in Austin, and so grateful for their support! Oh yeah, and then the universe brought Allison Davis and Anessa Fike into our facilitator lineup, and we were like "okayyyy now this is really happening! eek!" 🎇 Lets.Freaking.Go.🎉
