Did you know a group of female betta fish is called a sorority? 🐟 🐟 🐟 🐟 Apparently, female bettas are less aggressive and can harmoniously coexist (in a big enough tank). So, earlier this week, we welcomed the newest members of the Francis team, and the first Francis sorority, to the Brookfield office: Amelia, Pearl, Jasmine, and Fluffy (aka. the Betas). Today, the team said goodbye to the office betta fish (and mascot), Vinnie 🐟 Macy Fallico brought Vinnie into our lives in February, and as Kevin Roloff, CFA said in his beautiful goodbye speech, "Whether it was during a stressful conference call or a quiet afternoon, we could always count on Vinnie to be there, gliding through his giant watery kingdom, reminding us to take a deep breath and keep swimming." Important News 📣 regarding the DOL's new fiduciary rule dropped yesterday as the Northern District of Texas followed the Eastern District by staying the rule ahead of its effective date at the end of September. Michael J. Francis responds saying... "More government regulation is unlikely to be effective in combatting the conflicted investment advice routinely provided to retirement plan participants. This service model is simply too profitable and the industry too powerful to expect a change.   The only long-term solution to the problem of conflicted investment advice is for the market to wake up to the alternative - unconflicted investment advice. Once those asking for investment advisory services for their employees start demanding these services be completely free of conflicts (not in “best interest” with conflicts disclosed), the market will rush to fill the demand, and the current conflicted model, which is the industry standard, will disappear."
