🌈 Pride Month Update 🌈 Last month, in honor of Pride Month, we hosted a guest speaker,Adrienne Shilton (She/Her), Vice President of Public Policy and Strategy from our long-time partner, the California Alliance of Child & Family Services Child and Family Services. She presented on "Celebrating Pride: LGBTQ+ Focused Policy & Legislation." We have the good fortune to share that one of the bills she discussed, Assembly Bill 1955, has now reached Governor Newsom's desk. This bill aims to protect transgender students by prohibiting schools from requiring teachers to notify parents about changes to a student's gender identity, thus ensuring a safer and more supportive environment for LGBTQ+ youth. At Fred Finch CARES, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive support for children and families living with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders intersecting with mental health concerns, and histories of trauma and loss through our Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services. Our programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each child and family, implementing interventions that are evidence-based and cultural and linguistically responsive. According to recent findings by the CDC, the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) among children in California is higher than the national average, with 1 in 22 children aged 4 and 8 being identified with ASD. While this indicates strong diagnostic practices, it also highlights the growing need for support services like our CARES program. Positively, the median age of diagnosis in California is younger compared to the national median, emphasizing the importance of early intervention. Our CARES program is committed to making a significant impact by offering early diagnosis, interventions, and tailored support services. Our highly trained staff focus on providing access to quality care, ensuring that every child and family receives the care and attention they deserve.
