For the ninth consecutive year, we proudly hosted a week-long summer internship for high school students in partnership with Legal Outreach. This year's program featured panel presentations, discussions and networking sessions led by Fried Frank lawyers and summer associates, culminating in a mock negotiation. A special thank you to Fried Frank special counsel Martin Hewitt, associates Miyoshie Lamothe-Aime, Alex Green, Tanner Williams, Shakierah Smith, Gina B., Morgan Mitchell and Christopher Livingston for their exceptional leadership in coordinating the program, with the support from our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Assistant Riann Ramkissoon-Hardeen. At Fried Frank, we remain committed to fostering the next generation of leaders through our ongoing partnership with Legal Outreach. This nonprofit organization uses intensive legal and educational programs to foster vision, develop skills and enhance confidence, preparing urban youth from underserved communities in New York City for higher education, professional careers and community leadership. Fried Frank partner Zac Mellor-Clark and associate Nishkaam Paul published an article in Law360 discussing the European Commission’s recently published and final draft of regulatory technical standards supplementing Regulation 2015/760, as amended. The publication of the final draft standards brings much-needed clarity on the mandatory liquidity features of an open-ended European long-term investment fund, or ELTIF, which permits redemptions by investors prior to the end of its term or life. Check the link in the first comment below to read Zac and Nishkaam’s take on the draft standards, with a particular focus on an ELTIF's mandatory liquidity features, as it will be of particular interest to managers active in the European semiliquid fund space.

Fried Frank partner Andrew Barkan and Scott Wells, General Counsel - North America at firm client Tradeweb, were recently part of a team that won first place at the Diversity Lab Moment to Movement Hackathon at NYU Law. This Shark Tank-style pitch competition involved teams creating actionable solutions to increase inclusivity and reinforce diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession. Their team’s pitch was on Inclusive Talent Systems and proposed an approach to equitable work allocation. They spent five months preparing, researching and refining their pitch to esteemed judges across the legal and diversity landscape. An award was presented to the team at the evening reception, which also coincided with the 10th anniversary of Diversity Lab. This initiative by Diversity Lab was an incredible opportunity to drive change in the legal field.
