This past Saturday, July 15th, we hosted the final event of our three-part financial literacy series, "Securing the Bag," led by financial expert Gail Perry Mason. The event, held at our office, featured lunch from The D Loft Food Truck. Our caregivers were highly engaged and now have a wealth of resources to help them achieve their homeownership, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy goals. Our kiddos all received goodies to include a soccer ball which they wrote their goals on to "kick around" and always be reminded of them. One of the standout moments at the Time for the Children Gala was listening to "YaYa", one of our caregivers, recount how Friends Detroit has been a tremendous blessing for her and her family. Facing uncertainty after her daughter received a long sentence, YaYa found herself caring for her three grandchildren. Friends Detroit was recommended to her, and we stepped in to support the entire family.
