For more than 30 years, we’ve developed innovative ways to end violence against women, children, and families.

About us

Futures Without Violence (FUTURES) is a national nonprofit organization leading groundbreaking educational programs, policies, and campaigns that empower individuals and organizations working to end violence against women and children around the world. Providing leadership from offices in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Boston, FUTURES has trained thousands of professionals and advocates--such as doctors, nurses, judges, athletic coaches, and other community influences--on improving responses to violence and abuse. The organization was a driving force behind the passage of the Violence Against Women Act of 1994—the nation’s first comprehensive federal response to the violence that plagues families and communities. Did you know 2 out of 3 young men aged 18-23 feel misunderstood, with almost half saying their online life is more exciting than real life? This disconnect is driving many into harmful online spaces. Here’s what parents, educators, and media content makers can do to help ensure boys and young men are finding healthy connections online: 👉🏽 Don’t panic. The "manosphere" – YouTube, Reddit, Fantasy Football, and other sites popular with young men – lean more positive than negative. 👉🏽 Listen to young men about their online lives. Ask what they consume and talk about online safety. 👉🏽 Build on what’s working. Many influencers and spaces already connect positively with young men online. Join them where they are. 👉🏽 Connect IRL. Guide young men to in-person spaces where they can form in-person connections. Read more about this issue in our TIME Op-Ed, written in collaboration with Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice.
