About us

Garden Savings Federal Credit Union was founded in 1968 to serve the financial needs of the employees who worked for AT&T Bell Laboratories (presently known as Alcatel-Lucent). In 1985, we expanded our field of membership to include other sponsor companies, as well as people who live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in Newark, Elizabeth, or Jersey City. You may also join us if a member of your immediate family is a member of Garden Savings already. Mission, Vision, and Values Today, with over $350 million in assets, over 70 employees, and four branches, Garden Savings serves over 25,000 members, representing over 150 Select Employer Groups (organizations/companies). Although a lot has changed since we first opened our doors, one thing has and forever will remain the same — our commitment to our founding mission: "To be our member's first choice in banking by forming a partnership they value most." The core values of Garden Savings reflect those attributes we value most in our employees, members, business partners and in all our interactions. These core values do not change from time to time or person to person, but rather they are consistent attributes that underpin all of our daily activities. Our Promise is to never lose touch with these values.
