Many of us have felt the impact of a devastating diagnosis – whether we’ve experienced it ourselves or as a family member or friend. That experience has the power to define us, and to drive our personal and professional mission. Last month, we recognized two important observances – #PrideMonth and #Juneteenth – that were created by historically marginalized trailblazers who understood that their unique stories, experiences and contributions deserved visibility. Read more about how cultivating an inclusive culture, where everyone can truly be themselves, is crucial for achieving better health outcomes for all. As I dive into sharing more on LinkedIn, knowing the interest it generates amongst my Genentech colleagues and future employees, I’ve been inspired to go deeper on topics I'm passionate about, drawing from my personal and professional experiences. Stay tuned for more in my series, What It Takes.

For the second consecutive year, our Learning & Skill Development team recently had the pleasure of hosting 25 undergraduate students on our South San Francisco campus for an interview skills-building workshop as part of the Life Science Cares Bay Area initiative. The students received real-world simulated interview practice and guidance from our dedicated employee volunteers to help them master future job interviews. We're proud to have partnered with Project Onramp a non-profit organization forging career pathways for students from underrepresented communities to make this event a success. And a special thank you to our colleagues, Joshua Keough and Taylor Milla for helping build this partnership. Learn more about Project Onramp here: https://lnkd.in/guZH5Aup

From dismantling barriers that prevent people of color from participating, to enhancing cultural humility in care delivery, we’re proud to reflect on the impact of this work to foster community trust and advance inclusive research.
