Reinvestment is crucial for global high streets to continually deliver as economic engines for their respective cities. North Michigan Avenue was ready for its next evolution prior to COVID, having not seen major transformation since the 1990s, but today — given the changes in consumer habits, expectations, and lifestyles resulting from the pandemic — it is urgently poised for reinvention. Taking cues from some of the world's busiest high streets, Gensler and a team of key real estate leaders identified the northern end of Michigan Avenue, between Chicago Avenue and Oak Street Beach, as the area with the greatest potential to elevate Magnificent Mile. The resulting reimagining of North Michigan Avenue presents feasible ways to revive Chicago's iconic shopping and tourism destination with a new identity that will help draw crowds and fill empty space. #Cities #UrbanDesign #Chicago

The Phoenix Mercury’s $100M, 58,000-square-foot practice facility officially opened 🏀 The facility, designed by Gensler and von Staden Architects and built by Oakland Construction, includes two full-sized basketball courts named after Mercury star Diana Taurasi and bears a logo referencing her. Taurasi has played her entire 20-year career with Mercury, and she and her teammates have 24/7 access to the facility. There will also be strength and cardio training areas, indoor and outdoor turf training space, and a team meeting room with theater-style seating. Construction is nearing completion on Under Armour’s new global headquarters in Baltimore! Once complete later this year, the building will reaffirm the company’s long-term resilience commitment. The headquarters is constructed almost entirely of mass timber, and aims to achieve LEED v4 Platinum Certification, net zero energy operations, and the WELL Building Standard. Geothermal heating and cooling, rainwater harvesting, a landscaped roof, solar panels, sun shades, and a premium HVAC system with energy recovery are just some of the other sustainable design features of the site, which serves as a shining example of how Under Armour walks the walk on its sustainability commitments. #masstimber #underarmour #sustainabledesign #architecture #design #baltimore

Athlete performance relies on practice and training to help them fine tune their craft and the Phoenix Mercury knows that having the best tools at their players disposal supports their team and creates a better fan experience. The teams new home will be the third of its kind in the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association), a dedicated, state-of-the-art practice facility setting a new standard for equity in women’s professional sports. 🏀 https://lnkd.in/egBmP_id
