As companies scale, the investments in security, optimizations for speed as well as stability, become increasingly complex and important to get right – and that all starts with choosing their tech stack partners with care. Choosing an EHR? That's the easy part. The real work is in implementing an EHR correctly, organizing all of your internal stakeholders across product, dev, and clinical, and ensuring that providers can use the EHR effectively. Another important nugget: EHR implementation is one part of the equation. We’ve been working with some of our customers for years, and continuing to roll out new capabilities and optimizations is a normal and natural part of software, as your business evolves too. Brittanie Kraft, Director of Operations at Kaia Health thought about this extensively when selecting vendors, and how thinking long-term ultimately played into Kaia’s decision to choose Healthie.   Specifically:  1️⃣ Don’t underestimate the importance of flexibility in a tech partner; choose someone who is poised to scale alongside you. 2️⃣ Open APIs, like those from Healthie, enable limitless customization and integration, making implementation smoother and more impactful. 3️⃣ Consider the reaction time and willingness to partner from the EMR side; this will facilitate the day-to-day support needed particularly during implementation, but also the long-term collaboration needed to drive true innovation. One more tip from Brittanie, “Looking at the vendor roadmap is huge – where does it align? You can even have the same type of values as a company, but if you see that they’re actually heading in a different direction than where you are, then maybe that’s a good sign to reevaluate your tooling and the vendors that you’re using.” We say this at Healthie all the time, and share it with the companies we speak with - find the infrastructure that will work for you, so you can focus on building the differentiating parts of your technology, and finding a sustainable, scalable pathway to growth. More on a build and buy approach leveraging APIs, and our full panel discussion:  https://lnkd.in/erqmsr3P

In the early days of digital health, innovators had no choice but to build their tech stacks from scratch. Times have changed, and digital health cos now have the ability to leverage 3rd platforms & solutions for a more effective growth strategy. 🏗️ Specifically, care delivery companies can focus on providing quality clinical care, while having modern, extendable (API-first) platforms on the back-end. This is exactly what happened in FinTech & ConsumerTech. eCommerce companies use Shopify to sell products online, versus needing to build software from scratch. Companies (like Healthie!) can use Stripe to collect payments, versus Healthie building a payment processor in-house. For example, when launching Mavida Health, Emma Sugerman, Co-Founder and COO, had a choice: build an EHR and scheduling platform in-house or leverage an existing solution. Mavida Health chose Healthie based on these key considerations: 1️⃣ Speed to market – Mavida could quickly launch and scale services without the lengthy development process. 2️⃣ Cost – partnering to build their tech stack minimized upfront investment and reduced ongoing maintenance expenses. 3️⃣ Differentiation – rather than building a bespoke solution, partnering allowed Mavida to focus on care delivery and business differentiation rather than managing complex tech infrastructure. "Why reinvent the wheel when you can build on top of proven technology? This approach allows us to stay focused on what makes Mavida Health unique." The first wave of healthcare innovators (the likes of Omada, Lora, and Oak Street) had to build a majority of their tech stack in-house. Why? Though costly 💰 and time intensive ⏱️, this was the only way these forward-thinking companies could provide the modern experiences they wanted to offer. It was also how value accretion worked during the nascent phases of digital health tech. ⌛ 10+ years later, this has all changed - this is a good thing! The industry has matured & there are many more companies delivering modern care; as a result, there's an market of infrastructure vendors to support these companies - Digital health companies can (and should) focus on "What it takes to Win" and aggregate third-party vendors for the rest - Founders and the Venture Market have evolved their perspective on what successful companies in Care Delivery look like. - The ability to swiftly launch, customize, and scale is a game-changer in the competitive care delivery landscape. Watch our panel with Emma Sugerman, Co-founder and COO @ Mavida Health, Jake Powell, Senior Director of Provider Partnerships @Two Chairs, and Brittanie Kraft, VP of Operations @ Kaia Health to dive into how these industry experts made important tech stack decisions. Key takeaways: 🛠️ Nail the decision of when to build and when to buy – virtual-first healthcare delivery companies can build out-of-the-box solutions to create tailored software without draining resources or delaying time-to-market. ⚡ Signing your tech stack partner(s) is the easy part – the challenge is to carefully choose partners that will support you from implementation through scale.  🚀 Leverage API-first platform for customizability and scale – platforms like @Healthie empower virtual-first healthcare delivery companies to experience the benefits of both building and buying simultaneously.
