🌎 People, nature and climate are three big reasons that explain our ✨ why ✨ at The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP). Events like this week's high level panel, "People, Nature, and Climate in Latin America and the Caribbean," in Colombia 🇨🇴 are integral in helping us come together to collaborate with other changemakers and #ClimateAdvocates. In LAC, we are changing energy through our work with people and the communities they create. 💚 We have seen time and time again the power of partnering with cities in supporting lasting and sustainable change that delivers impact for all. We can't wait to keep collaborating for the next generation to help inspire just and inclusive change. 👇 Read more what our Partnerships Manager for LAC, Gabriela Gutiérrez Morales, shares in her takeaways from the event, her panel - and what it all means for the future. #LetsChangeEnergy together Isabel Beltrán Eric Phillip Gay Roberto Estevez Hali McKinley Lester Erika Buffa The Rockefeller Foundation Rajiv J. I was thrilled to join the “Empowering the Next Generation of Climate and Nature Advocates” panel at the high-level event “People, Nature, and Climate in Latin America and the Caribbean”, hosted by The Rockefeller Foundation, WWF Colombia, Compaz Foundation to highlight the urgent need for innovative solutions that merge community well-being with nature in our climate strategies, diving deep into sustainable city planning and transformative biodiversity conservation🌱🌎 💡I shared insights on the significant barriers women and marginalized communities face in accessing reliable and affordable energy. At The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) we're pushing the boundaries by not only enhancing energy access but ensuring that it translates into broader economic and social empowerment. By incorporating technologies like Productive Use of Energy #PUE and improving access to financing, we are fostering significant community growth and resilience against environmental challenges. A major highlight was The Rockefeller Foundation announcement of reopening its regional office in Bogotá, a move that reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development in Latin America. This move underscores a renewed focus on LAC. #EmpowermentInEnergy #WomenInEnergy #LAC #LatinAmerica #RenewableEnergy #EnergyAccess #CleanEnergyFuture #Colombia #Bogota

🇮🇳 Nearly two-thirds of India's population lives in rural areas and 2.4% of these populations still do not have access to electricity. Distributed Renewable Energy can change this because no one should live without access to affordable, clean energy. The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP)'s Vice President for India, Saurabh Kumar, pens his thoughts on changing energy in India and how renewable energy access is in reach in our latest blog covering case studies like Nagaland, India. 💪Changing energy requires working with great partners. Take this special moment where our GEAPP South Africa 🇿🇦 team welcomed Andrew Steer and Nicole Iseppi from Bezos Earth Fund to showcase our Just Energy Transition projects - and our progress to date! As part of our work with South Africa's Presidential Climate Commission, our GEAPP experts and partners saw energy changing during busy days in conversation, visiting Komati Power Plant and a training center that is working to upskill and reskill energy workers. Some of the big wins we're loving: - Lots of clean energy being installed ( and more than 30+GW in the pipeline!) - Regulatory changes that support clean energy - innovative strategies that show success Change doesn't happen overnight, but with lessons of success, we can accelerate clean energy transitions further and faster in emerging economies across the planet. #LetsChangeEnergy together 💜 Ziyad Cassim Nchimunya Chipo Hamukoma Dr Snowy Khoza Wale Aboyade, PhD Tshegofatso Neeuwfan

📍In Vietnam, we're working toward clean, green energy access for all with our 50 MW Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) pilot project, in collaboration with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Asian Development Bank (ADB). Why: 👉 Vietnam's power demand is anticipated to grow 10-12% annually over the next five years 👉 BESS minimizes #renewableenergy variability 👉 BESS ensures reliable power supply How: 👉 Supporting policy reforms, technical standards and innovative investment 👉 Creating 300 MW of energy storage by 2030 👉 Averting 23,717 tons of CO2 What: 👉 Enhanced grid stability 👉 Power shortage mitigation 👉 Easy integration of renewables Read more: https://lnkd.in/esUwa8WX #LetsChangeEnergy Sunita Dubey

💚 Changing energy requires financing and partnerships to make it happen. Our new CEO, Woochong Um, took some time to write down his thoughts on how renewable energy plays an important part in unlocking the potential of emerging economies and creating better lives for all. Find his thoughts and an interesting read below 👇 #LetsChangeEnergy The Rockefeller Foundation Bezos Earth Fund IKEA Foundation
Energy is more than just power. It's growth, it's innovation, it's opportunity. By investing not just in electricity but also in the tools that harness it—like solar-powered water pumps, agro-processing machinery and essential services like schools and hospitals—we empower people and create thriving communities. However, this mission is too large for any single organization to achieve alone. #SDG7 needs radical collaboration now more than ever. I’m hopeful and ready to be part of the solution together with The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP). Let’s make sure the world is ready too. 🌟GEAPP, alongside IDB Lab, Inter-American Development Bank and DGRV - Team América Latina have launched LAC E-Coop. The project aims to provide access to clean energy for 42 rural producer organizations, directly benefiting approximately 2,100 low-income farmers and indirectly benefiting 8,000 individuals, including family members and other organizations. The short story: we're tailoring our support to help rural producers and suppliers build sustainable change from the community level.💛 Because when we talk about accelerating the just #energytransition, we know that's only part of the story. This project is building on hardworking rural producers to work smarter and greener to help grow businesses, strengthen communities and change lives.
