Pursuing peace through nature, arts, justice, community, faith, and Design for Freedom.

About us

Grace Farms Foundation’s interdisciplinary humanitarian mission is to pursue peace through nature, arts, justice, community, faith, and Design for Freedom, a new movement to eliminate forced labor from the building materials supply chain. The Foundation’s work is carried out at Grace Farms. The open, porous architecture of the internationally acclaimed River building at Grace Farms, designed by SANAA, is embedded into 80 acres of natural landscape. The building, designed to break down barriers between people and sectors, invites all to pause and reflect, while also encouraging engagement with our initiatives, creating new outcomes. The result is a hopeful, yet active, environment where peace take shape. Grace Farms is accessible and free to the public six days a week. Through on-site programming, daily experiences, and exhibits, all are invited to observe, experience and support the work of Grace Farms Foundation.

It is going to be an awe-inspiring evening as we celebrate nine years of culture, collaboration, and new outcomes at Grace Farms on Monday, October 21st. Amidst the breathtaking autumn foliage, we invite you to step into the glass-enclosed Sanctuary and immerse yourself in a moving program performed by a 31-musician chamber ensemble of musicians from the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by LPO 2023/24 Fellow Conductor, Luis Castillo-Briceño. Making the performance all the more poignant is that it will meaningfully encapsulate our theme, "Architecture Moves Us," and illuminate the purpose of our Foundation. Like the winding architecture of the River building, which connects people to each other, to nature, and speaks to the power of ethical and sustainable design, we know architecture nurtures community. Space brings people together for a shared experience and can even achieve humanitarian outcomes. As we prepare for this special 9th Anniversary Benefit, we invite you to consider your own relationship and connection to architecture. When has architecture left you with a sense of amazement, curiosity, comfort, or joy? We are so excited to come together with our incredible community for our Annual Benefit, create a new beautiful memory together at Grace Farms, and witness the harmony of music and architecture. Join us this Wednesday, September 11th, for virtual conversation with the renowned designers behind our Design for Freedom exhibit, With Every Fiber, Nina Cooke John(Founder and Principal, Studio Cooke John Architecture + Design), and Eddie Opara (Designer and Partner at Pentagram, a longtime collaborator of Grace Farms). They will explore the design processes that went into the creation of this first-of-its-kind Design for Freedom experience and take time to answer your questions. One of the first architects in the U.S. to commit to embarking on a Design for Freedom by Grace Farms Pilot Project, Nina Cooke John tracked materials for fair labor in Shadow of a Face, a public monument celebrating the life of Harriet Tubman and supported by the city of Newark, NJ. The concrete cast of Tubman’s eye, used in the creation of the monument, is on view in With Every Fiber. Register: https://lnkd.in/gbi9Jrjj Photos: 1. With Every Fiber.
