Grand Traverse Resort & Casinos is excited to announce the development of an RV Park in Traverse City. The park is estimated to open for reservations in the Spring of 2025 and will be conveniently located on the Turtle Creek properties just north of Turtle Creek Market on M-72 East. The park will feature state-of-the-art facilities catered to adult guests and will offer a welcoming community atmosphere. The Turtle Creek RV Park is designed with the modern traveler in mind. Featuring fifty spacious sites, the park accommodates a variety of RV sizes and configurations. Each site is equipped with full hookups, including water, sewer, and electricity, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay for all guests.

Today we held our Cash in on Kindness quarterly guest collection initiative presentation. In April, the Conservation Resource Alliance - CRA received $4,427.46 to support their efforts to improve Michigan's waterways, preserve the wilderness, and protect wildlife as part of Earth Month. In May, in honor of National Cancer Research Month, the Leelanau County Cancer Foundation received $4,789.71 to help local cancer patients with expenses such as mortgage and rent payments, utilities, childcare, insurance, and more. Lastly, in recognition of June being National Adopt a Cat Month, Just Cats, Inc. received $5,267.07 to continue their work in re-homing pets when necessary and supporting local shelters and human societies during overflow situations. We want to express our gratitude to all the generous donors who contributed their spare change to make a positive impact in our community.

The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians held a momentous event at the Leelanau Sands Showroom today, as they welcomed newly elected members to their Tribal Council in a traditional swearing-in ceremony. The event commenced with an opening drum performance by the Community Drum Group, setting a ceremonial tone for the proceedings. John Fowler then offered a solemn opening prayer, invoking blessings upon the community and its leaders. Chief Judge, Michael Long presided over the swearing-in of the newly elected Tribal Council members, a moment that marked the beginning of their official duties and responsibilities. Chairwoman Sandy Witherspoon, along with Councilors Angelina Raphael, Donna Swallow, and Anna Miller, took their oaths of office, pledging to serve their community with integrity and dedication. In a ceremony filled with both anticipation and reflection, the departing Council members—Chairman David Arroyo, Council Secretary Theresa Marshall, and Councilor Robert “Bob” Kewaygoshkum—were honored for their service and commitment to the Grand Traverse Band. The event concluded with an honor song, a deeply meaningful expression of gratitude and respect, followed by a closing prayer delivered once again by John Fowler, underscoring the spiritual significance of the occasion. The swearing-in ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the enduring strength and resilience of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, as they continue to uphold their traditions and values while embracing new leadership and opportunities for growth and prosperity.

Our Cash in on Kindness monthly guest collection initiative presented $4,625.32 to Leelanau Children's Center to provide center-based care for preschoolers, with an emphasis on early relationships, early experiences, child-initiated play-based learning, and community partnerships. Leelanau Children’s Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides high-quality, early childhood educational programs and advocates for children, parents, and families. From its inception in 1976 as a playgroup, LCC has grown to participate in Michigan’s Great Start to Quality program and is among the top 3% of preschools in the state rated as “Demonstrating the Highest Level of Quality”. Our Cash in on Kindness monthly guest collection initiative presented $4,166.38 to Step Up Northern Michigan to make a difference in the lives of the at-risk youth in our community.     45% of the students in the Grand Traverse Region are experiencing food insecurity. Step Up Northern Michigan supports 6 local food pantries located in our area schools through their partnerships with Food Rescue and  the Northwest Food Coalition to ensure they have access to food daily, as well as personal hygiene products, clothing, essential needs, and help with employment and living skills.    Thank you to our generous February players who donated their change for a change for the better in our community! #nonprofit #community #traversecity #atriskyouth
