GPA is strongly advocating for the inclusion of the occupation "Grant Professional" within the 2028 Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system and its supporting documentation. Extensive research conducted by the GPA revealed a critical gap in the current 2018 SOC system. Titles commonly associated with grant professionals, such as Grant Writer, Grant Proposal Developer, Grant Coordinator, Grant Manager, and Grants Program Manager, are conspicuously absent. This lack of recognition fails to acknowledge the distinct skillset, education, training, and qualifications required for success in this field and hampers accurate data collection and analysis of the grant professional workforce. Furthermore, existing generic codes like the SOC code 13-1000 for Business and Financial Operations inadequately represent the specialized nature of grant professionals. These broad classifications fail to capture the unique knowledge base encompassing strategic planning, proposal development, compliance regulations, program evaluation, and relationship building that grant professionals possess. Therefore GPA has proposed adding Grant Professional as an occupation for the 2028 SOC. Comments should be submitted by August 11, 2024 through Regulations.gov. Click here https://lnkd.in/efK2isKi to review the instructions and a view a template to comment.
