At the August 1 board meeting, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners proclaimed August 2024 as Child Support Awareness Month in Guilford County. Commissioner Carly Cooke highlighted the work Guilford County Child Support Services does to advance innovative ways to connect parents to resources that help with barriers to paying child support such as family-centered casework and partnerships with other state agencies. Annually the Guilford County Child Support Office serves more than 18,000 residents; the office collected more than $33,380,000 in support during county fiscal year 2023-2024. Let us congratulate the Guilford County Adult Resource Team! At this year’s National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards, the county’s Adult Resource Team won “Best in Category” for the human services category. The Adult Resource Team is a collaboration with Guilford County Social Services and Guilford County EMS staff to provide a service line for residents who need resources and care that exceed normal EMS capabilities. #GCEmployeeSpotlight | During the July 18 board meeting, Chairman Melvin "Skip" Alston presented Dr. Iulia Vann a resolution of appreciation for her service as the Guilford County Public Health Director. The Board of County Commissioners extends its deepest gratitude to Dr. Vann for her years of dedicated service and her outstanding leadership during the global coronavirus pandemic in addition to her efforts to create opportunities for health equity, enhanced resources, and community collaborations for the Guilford County Public Health Department. The Board recognizes and commends Dr. Vann for her unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of the residents of Guilford County and are grateful to her for her service and wish her all the best in her career. Today Guilford County Board of Commissioners Chairman Melvin "Skip" Alston attended the Business High Point - Chamber of Commerce and the City of High Point for the 2024 State of the City. The event, sponsored by Business High Point and hosted by High Point University, took place at the stunning Nido and Marianna Qubein Arena and Conference Center. Chairman Alston's presence highlights Guilford County’s commitment to community engagement and economic development.

𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙥! Yesterday, Guilford County had the honor of welcoming Vice President Kamala Harris to Dudley High School! The Vice President delivered an inspiring speech to our community, emphasizing the importance of education, unity, and progress. The event kicked off with a warm greeting at Piedmont Triad International Airport, where Vice President Harris was welcomed by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Guilford County Board of Commissioners Chair Melvin "Skip" Alston, and City of Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan. Their presence underscored the significance of this visit for our region. At Dudley High School, the Vice President addressed students, educators, and community leaders, highlighting the administration's commitment to improving educational opportunities and resources for all. The visit was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our local leaders and the vibrant spirit of Guilford County.
