“When I’m not at the mill, it calls to me,” Team Hancock’s, John “The Bull” Proctor, recently shared. Long-time Casco Mill sawyer, John Proctor, celebrated his retirement on July 8, marking the completion of an incredible 53-year career in the lumber industry. John started at the age of 15 with Chute/Lake Region Lumber and then joined Hancock Lumber in February of 1986, beginning what would turn into a 38-year career at our Casco Mill! John epitomizes the best of the lumber industry and has left his mark. His family shared his home always smelt of sawdust and fresh cut lumber, they remember fondly him sporting classic LL Bean flannel shirts as his every day work attire, and noted he always woke up eager to return to the mill. During his time at Hancock Lumber, John kept a record of every log he processed and what that equated to in board feet sawn. John is an absolute legend in our state, industry, and on Team Hancock—from all of us, thank you for the pride, enthusiasm, love, and care you put into everything you have done. Enjoy your retirement, and whenever the sawmill calls to you, you’re welcome back! #TeamHancock #HancockLumber #BuiltToDeliver #LumberIndustryCareers

Celebrating the amazing career of Team Hancock’s Bill Jordan, Sr. Bill started with Hancock Lumber in July of 2001 and has recently retired in May of 2024 at our Yarmouth location, a 22-year career! Long-time Yarmouth GM and now Purchasing Manager, Harland Storey, shared his thoughts on Bill’s Incredible Career with Team Hancock: Bill has been a great steward for Hancock Lumber and has seen many changes in the past 22 years in Yarmouth. He is leaving our business in much better shape through his contributions. I can confidently say that in the history of Hancock Lumber—across all locations—no one else has restocked our bins with more pine than Bill. About five years ago I calculated that it was over a million feet he restocked into the Yarmouth bins! Bill would often refer to Hancock Lumber as family and he was very proud to have two of his children also part of the Yarmouth team. His legacy will live on for years to come—thank you, Bill, and happy retirement! Thank you for your decades of service and commitment to Team Hancock & the builders of ME + NH! We wish you a happy retirement! #TeamHancock #HancockLumber #BPTW
