Proven successful Sales Representative | Sales Leader within Healthcare and Data & Telecomm.

Hi everyone - I am looking for a new role in Sales or Sales Management and would appreciate your support. In the 1st week of unemployment and in many months of the past 2 years, I have learned a lot of tips on searching for a new position. I am sure many have learned the same, but in the spirit of collaboration I am listing some of these tidbits below: 1. God takes you to dark places sometimes to bring you closer to him and asks only for your obedience, thanks, daily conversation with him, and faith. 2. Being unemployed sucks, not only due to lack of funds flowing, but also because it keeps me from what I love to do, am passionate about, and most of all from helping others in a way that fills my heart. 3. You have to be deceitful, which is not me. Recruiters say they do not have any VP roles for me and if I want to be a front-line sales representative or sales manager (which I really do), I have to take the VP titles off my resume and make up titles for the work I have done and been successful in over the years if I want recruiters and hiring managers to even look at what I can offer their team and company. 4. People don't review your resumes - computer software does, so draft your resume in such a way that key words hit in the system. 5. Edit your resume to reflect the job posted. It really doesn't seem to matter what you did in the past and how you were successful, only that your resume lines up exactly with the job posted. 6. Your age matters, there is ageism. I have had interviewers ask repeatedly in interviews if I could handle coaching reps that were freshly out of college or with only 1-2 years sales experience. If I would be alright with managing a younger team. So, make yourself younger by losing older jobs off your resume and not putting when you graduated college. 7. Get ready to hurry up and wait. Recruiters will ignore you, not on purpose mind you. I have the utmost respect for recruiters, and they have a very tough job, it is just what is happening today. 8. People care. Reach out to old contacts and make new ones. You will be amazed that help will come from those you hardly know and sometimes not at all from those you know well. Basically, always be kind and try to help people as it could change and sometimes save lives. 9. When you are down, remember you are awesome and that this bad time too will pass. 10. As my RSMs and I use to tell my team - Embrace the Suck. Control what you can and manage what you can't. You can enter each day with a great attitude, and you can reach out to others for assistance and to help them. Thank you in advance for any connections, advice, or opportunities you can offer. #OpenToWork
