Across HCA Healthcare’s 188 hospitals and more than 2,400 sites of care, our colleagues care for our patients in many different ways. Hospital staff at HCA Healthcare’s Trident Medical Center recently helped a patient tie the knot during her hospitalization for lupus, an autoimmune disease. When the progressive care unit team at the Charleston, South Carolina hospital learned that Van Nguyen and her soon-to-be-husband, Matthew, hoped to exchange vows at the bedside, they sprang in to action to make the celebration memorable. Colleagues prepared the hospital chapel for an intimate wedding ceremony and planned a celebration for the newlyweds – complete with a wedding cake and decorations. Prior to the ceremony, Van’s care team helped her get ready to exchange vows by doing her hair and makeup. “While the ceremony was underway in the chapel, we placed a long red carpet in the hospital lobby,” shared Erin Holbrook, progressive care unit director at Trident Medical Center. “When the couple and their family exited the chapel, they were brought to the lobby where they saw our colleagues lined up on both sides of the red carpet clapping and cheering for them. There were a lot of smiles as we watched the newlyweds walk together hand-in-hand, but I also noticed a few tears of joy and happiness from people who joined the celebration in the lobby.” Please join is in congratulating the newly married couple, Van and Matthew, and extending a heartfelt thank you to the colleagues at Trident Medical Center for coming together to make this beautiful moment happen.
