It can be dangerous in the summer heat, with temperatures that feel like triple digits. Below are a few precautions you can take to stay safe and keep cool: Hydrate Regularly - Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks that can dehydrate you. Dress Smart - Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing to help your body stay cool. Limit Outdoor Activities - If possible, stay indoors during peak heat hours (10 AM - 4 PM). If you need to be outside, take frequent breaks in the shade. Use Sunscreen - Protect your skin from harmful UV rays with a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30. Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, such as dizziness, nausea, headache, faintness, and muscle cramps. Heat-related illnesses can be fatal if not treated quickly. If you or somebody you know are experiencing the symptoms of heat stroke, seek emergency care right away. https://bit.ly/4bMnBMI #HCAFloridaHealthcare #HealthierTomorrows

On this #MissionMomentMonday, we would like to spotlight recent Excellence Always Award winner, Myrriam Louis Torchon. Myrriam was recognized for her extraordinary compassion and care, treating a terminally ill, incarcerated patient with the warmth and kindness of a family member. She was nominated by a colleague who shared, "Myrriam provided admirable care for an end-of-life patient who had been incarcerated for 45 years. Despite knowing his past, she treated him with utmost compassion and respect, bringing dignity to his final days. Her unwavering commitment to providing love and care, regardless of the patient's history, profoundly impacted his mood and well-being. She stated to me “I am here to take care of him and bring him dignity and respect. What he did doesn’t change the way I care for him. On the contrary, I will show him love and compassion.” I am humbled by her attitude and her caring heart. Thank you, Myrriam for showing love and compassion to those who need it most. I am truly grateful that I witnessed this act of empathy that gave him the peace he needed. Her actions are a testament to the power of compassion in nursing. Thank you, Myrriam, for your extraordinary empathy and humanity." #HCAFloridaHealthcare #CareLikeFamily
