HCA Florida Healthcare showed up at the fourth annual First Aid Fair at Keiser University on July 17 to help Girl Scouts of Citrus Council earn their first aid badges. Our team taught Hands Only CPR, Stop The Bleed and how to call 9-1-1 to Girl Scouts of all levels, ranging from Daisy Scouts to Ambassadors, as well as their troop leaders and family members. This morning we visited United Against Poverty Orlando leading Hands-Only CPR instruction with members of the nonprofit's STEP Program. UCF Lake Nona Hospital EMS Coordinator Eric Cruz shared guidelines and best practices for administering CPR to unresponsive individuals - including maintaining compression rhythm cadence to the Bee Gees hit. STEP is a free program that provides participants valuable skills, confidence and knowledge to help secure employment and reach financial goals. Since 2002, UP Orlando has been providing a hand up for those in need, helping Central Floridians break free from poverty by offering hunger relief, crisis care, transformative education, and employment training opportunities.
