September is #SuicidePreventionMonth and we want to highlight the innovative work of State of Mind, a statewide theatre and public dialogue tour aimed at building supportive communities, debunking mental health myths, and encouraging open conversation about #mentalhealth. 🎭💬 Developed by UM Civic Imagination, this initiative is gearing up to bring interactive theatre and public dialogue events to over twenty (primarily rural) Montana communities. Alongside emotionally engaging performances, they’re offering free student workshops and professional development for staff and local health service providers. We sat down with Michael Rohd, Director of State of Mind, to hear about how they plan to engage with communities across #Montana. Read the interview at https://lnkd.in/gsicQk-u

🌱 Imagine a community where everyone enjoys fresh, quality, culturally significant food and has the power to make their own food choices. This is #foodsovereignty, a concept that the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) is championing through their Food Sovereignty Initiative on the Flathead Nation. Since 2020, they’ve cultivated community gardens, uplifted traditional foods, and distributed local produce, making strides toward a healthier, more resilient community. 🥕🍇 As we observe #HungerActionMonth this September, read our latest blog to learn how CSKT is leading the way and why food sovereignty is crucial for a thriving future ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gc6d9y4R . . . . . . . . . . . #montana #hunger #TrustBasedPhilanthropy #foodsovereignty #communitygardens #endhunger

There's plenty of food in America, yet 1 in 9 Montanans, including 1 in 6 children, still don't have the food they need to thrive. September is #HungerActionMonth and the Feeding America network is calling on everyone to take one million actions against hunger. Every action counts - whether you donate, advocate, volunteer or spread the word online. Transitioning multifamily buildings to resident ownership is some of my favorite work the NMCDC is doing right now. Check out this new short documentary film about the limited equity housing co-op model and the residents who now own their homes together!
We are excited to share a new documentary short that highlights our innovative work on housing cooperatives in Missoula! This model of affordable housing is designed to prevent displacement and expand stable community ownership for Missoula residents. We could not have done this work without the expertise from NeighborWorks Montana and are so grateful to the support from Headwaters Foundation for helping us feature this work to a wider audience. Watch the full film created by Lara Tomov of Stories for Action and Ken Grinde to learn more about how to we are working towards a future where everyone has access to safe, affordable, and permanent housing!
