Yesterday I had the honor of representing Health Care Without Harm at a small (50 person) White House Forum on Climate and Health organized by the Office of Science and Technology Policy. It was impressive. Climate envoy John Podesta, National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi and OSTP Director Arati Prabhakar opened it, demonstrating US government commitment to and knowledge of climate and health at the highest levels. Attending were HHS, CEQ, NIH, CDC, EPA, NASA, OMB, USAID, State and more; overall, more than 20 federal agencies were represented. Good discussions about how to advance health care decarbonization and resilience, while protecting public health from the climate crisis over the next several years. Inspiring to see this level of engagement and leadership. Thanks Josh Glasser for the invitate and for organizing such a great event!
