Being a Colorado-based company, we were following the legislative measures unfolding surrounding artificial intellengence (AI). As the technology is growing at intense speeds, and companies such as NVIDIA are posting incredible sales ($28 billion in Q1), there is certain to be more regulations that come into play surrounding AI. In the Colorado bill, the legislators recognized biases that inherently rejected applicants in high risk situations such as applying for mortgages, career opportunities and more. Trish Zornio provides statistics that “99% of Fortune 500 companies, and 83% of companies overall, now apply AI to automatically review applicants and narrow the search.” This means that bias can severely limit opportunities and the legislation is a must to ensure equal opportunities for all.
