Excited to share that our equipment and work at Helix Biotech was mentioned in this JoVE article entitled "Synthesizing (LNPs) by Turbulent Flow in Confined Impinging Jet Mixers" by the Robert (Bob) Prud'homme lab at Princeton University. Some key highlights: 1) Turbulent mixing produces more homogeneous LNPs than Microfluidics when working with RNA constructs of varying lengths. This is the reason why we've had no issues encapsulating RNA of different lengths - from short siRNA to long saRNA. 2) Reynolds number (Re) is used to predict flow patterns, i.e. whether a flow is laminar or turbulent. Fantastic review on Circular RNA in Cancer by the Simon Conn group at the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are gaining recognition for their significant roles in cancer biology, influencing oncogenesis at multiple stages. CircRNAs exhibit greater diversity (10x as the review states) and stability compared to traditional linear RNAs, making them promising candidates as biomarkers and for targeted therapies There is much ongoing research aimed at harnessing their unique properties for clinical applications. RNA switches are regulatory RNA elements that can adopt different conformations to control gene expression The authors identified 245 putative RNA switches in the human transcriptome (only two were known previously in humans!). 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞?
