The McHenry Township Fire Protection District recently took advantage of a valuable training opportunity for its firefighters and EMTs at 4105 West Crystal Lake Avenue and 812 North Mill Street, the future site of Taylor Place Apartments. Several buildings on the site are set for demolition before Henry Bros. Co. begins construction on the new 73,370-square-foot development. The firefighters worked on ventilation, search, rescue, hose advancement skills, and more. Taylor Place Apartments will feature 46 three-story apartments, four two-story townhomes, free-standing garages, and additional amenities. An existing historic structure on the site will be renovated and repurposed into a resident community center, fitness center, business center, and leasing office. The project, designated as workforce housing, is being developed by Northpointe Development II Corporation and Housing Opportunity Development Corporation (HODC), with Knothe & Bruce Architects, LLC & as the project architect. #henrybros #northpointedev #hodc #knothe

The time-lapse video below showcases the progress of the Envision Dreamhouse, among the nation’s first accessible homes for adults with disabilities, constructed with significant charitable donations. Located in Chicago’s 18th Ward, this home will empower residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live more independently than in alternative housing, such as nursing homes. Henry Bros. Co., JLK Architects, International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and several other entities have donated all or part of their services and materials. The home is scheduled for completion this summer. Envision Dreamhouse is a project by Envision Unlimited, a Chicago nonprofit organization founded in 1948. Envision Unlimited delivers high-quality programs and services to Illinois residents with disabilities, regardless of race, gender, or ability to pay. #henrybros #jlkarchitects #internationalunionofbricklayersandalliedcraftworks

Last week, the Village Of Mokena celebrated the grand opening of its new police station at 10300 West 191st Street. The 35,000 S.F. facility features state-of-the-art policing technology, an indoor gun range, a defensive tactics area, a detention center, evidence storage areas, a fitness center, training and meeting rooms, and administrative offices. The project architect was Studio GC architecture+interiors and Henry Bros. Co. was the general contractor. The new structure has an underground geothermal system to regulate building temperature, a significant green technology feature. Henry Bros. Co. also created a large culvert along the far west side of the 3.5-acre property to divert rain and water runoff. Current and former village officials, police officers, and consultants participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Afterward, the more than 300 guests toured the building and were treated to refreshments. Henry Bros.
