Angely Rosado is a dog person. The 22-year-old, who’s studying to become a vet tech, jumped at the chance to work at Harlem Doggie Day Spa this summer through the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Henry Street has been matching youth to summer jobs in partnership with the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development for the last 40 years. This year, the Settlement matched 1,754 young people to 239 worksites like New York City Tourism + Conventions, The Lower East Side Ecology Center, and Amazon. Henry Street is proud to be the NYC home of Rambler Studios! Congratulations to the young designers on an incredible fashion show at the Abrons Arts Center after six weeks of hard work. This year has been extremely special for Rambler Studios as part of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in New York’s FUTURE 400 program. Thank you for your support and collaboration! Kudos to Executive Vice President for Partnerships and Innovation Jeremy Reiss and Executive Vice President for Education and Employment Services Matthew Phifer for cultivating and expanding this initiative over the past five years, Carmen van der Vecht for your incredible vision and partnership, and Andres Biel for your mentorship and dedication to the young Ramblers.
Meet the fashion designers of the future 💫 The Rambler NYC Summer 2024 fashion show celebrated 11 young talents, who had only 6 weeks to bring their vision to the catwalk. Over a transformative six weeks, 11 talented Rambler designers boosted their skills and brought their inspirational visions to life. The Rambler fashion design students learn about working in a professional studio while gaining the self-esteem that comes from seeing their designs turned into clothing styles, and earning income from the sale of their work in venues such as studio stores, pop-up shops and online. This FUTURE 400 program was hosted by Dutch Rambler Studios, in collaboration with Henry Street Settlement, to unleash the talent and creativity of low-income youth through fashion design. Thank you for a fantastic project, and all the best to the 11 Ramblers: ANNALYA / ASHLEY / DEAN / HARUKA / JADEN / KAYLA / KENNEDY / MARCUS / MARIAM / MEYA / RAHIMå. 🔥 Meet the Ramblers here: https://lnkd.in/gbT7gzCn 🎧 Listen to the special podcast with John Adams Institute: https://lnkd.in/gBdFAR2h #Netherlands #CreativeIndustries #Innovation

Henry Street is profoundly grateful to U.S. Rep. Dan Goldman (NY-10), who announced yesterday a generous funding appropriation to renovate our agency’s historic building at 281 East Broadway into a multigenerational community center. As we’ve emerged from the pandemic years, the need in our community for youth and adult services including mental health support, education, recreation, and safety, and for greater mutual awareness and care, has remained consistent. Making space to serve these interlocking needs is at the core of Henry Street’s mission, and we look forward to serving our neighbors in this updated building.
