From the imaginary gardens of Pippi Longstocking to the historic gardens of famed Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus, the American Swedish Institute’s Nelson Cultural Center draws on Swedens rich cultural history while integrating sustainable technologies 🇸🇪 Swedish Gords (a series of small outdoor rooms) and open lawns provide a field for geothermal wells while doubling as a gathering space. The landscaping features traditional planted forms and species native to both Sweden and Minnesota. Each step of the design process considered both heritage and sustainability, resulting in an addition that balances past and future 🌱 📍American Swedish Institute | Minneapolis, MN 📸 Paul Crosby Photo
