"I am very, very surprised how much opportunity there is out there to reuse so much of the materials and minerals that we use every day. That’s what amazes me, and how big of a business opportunity that creates, not only just in this country, but globally." HG Ventures' Entrepreneur-in-Residence Mitch Black sat down with Susan Orr of the Indianapolis Business Journal to talk about how he is adding value to our business, our portfolio companies and those taking part in The Heritage Group Accelerator. https://lnkd.in/g4fGsq2U

"The green premium is the cost difference between a cheaper product that increases pollution and a more expensive alternative that offers climate benefits. In order to get people on board with new technologies, we need to close that gap." Many of HG Ventures' portfolio companies are working to narrow the grren premium in their respective industries, and we are excited about their breakthroughs becoming more mainstream. In this article for MIT Technology Review, Casey Crownhart examines the green premium and the imperative to reduce or eliminate it (behind a paywall). https://lnkd.in/gA343b5e

What is the future of air travel? Angus Whitley of Bloomberg recently week reported on tthe challenges airlines face in meeting their 2030 targets due to a lack of available sustainable aviation fuel or newer, more efficient aircraft. Meanwhile, a new report from Sifted explores how new technologies have the power to reshape air travel. Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is an essential part of that picture, which is why we are investing in those innovating in this space, including INERATEC , which is developing synthetic fuels and other carbon-neutral products, and Naki (a The Heritage Group Accelerator company), which transforms food industry waste into valuable materials for SAF production. https://lnkd.in/dKYrxjz6

A first-of-its-kind study has found that PFAS or “forever chemicals” — toxic compounds found in everyday beauty and personal care items like sunscreen, waterproof mascara and lipstick — can seep through human skin and enter the bloodstream. PFAS have been an area of concern for some time, and we are proud to back the startups that are leading the way in finding novel ways to isolate and destroy them - Puraffinity and Aclarity. https://lnkd.in/gStMtsqZ

All over the world we are seeing examples of innovation that will reduce our global dependence on fossil fuels. In Chile, this partnership between COPEC S.A. and our portfolio company, INERATEC , will do much to make e-fuels mainstream in Latin America.
INERATEC and COPEC S.A. enter partnership to spearhead the availability of e-Fuels in Chile⛽ ⚡With the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding we reinforce our dedication to renewable energy and sustainable fueling solutions. Together we will build and operate a Power-to-Liquid plant in Chile that will produce over 3,500 tons of e-Fuels per year. The plant will: ✅ cover local #eFuel needs ✅ supply global markets ✅ strengthen Chile’s position as a hub for renewable fuel production. 🤝 Our collaboration underscores the shared commitment to sustainably transforming Chile’s energy market, ensuring the availability of e-Fuels both locally and globally. Our portfolio company, INERATEC is leading the way in the development of e-fuels and this new partnership with SOLER Group is a major step towards reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. We are proud to be a part of this journey.
INERATEC and SOLER Group enter technology partnership to transform e-Fuel production in Europe 🌳 🤝 We are proud to partner with our fellow climate pioneers to combine our cutting-edge technologies and transform industry and mobility sectors dependent on fossil oil. Together with SOLER Group, we will build an innovative Power-to-Liquid plant in Southern France. The plant will avoid an equivalent of 100,000 tons of CO2 emission per year by using wood and renewable hydrogen as feedstocks. By producing renewable biocarbon and e-Fuels, this plant will leverage the synergy potential to achieve maximum resource efficiency. 💡 This marks a milestone for the global supply of sustainable fuel solutions from Power-to-Liquid plants in Europe.
