Tomorrow, Sarah Vaz is presenting Fora Health at the 2024 AIA AAH Summer Leadership Summit in Denver, CO. She is in good company, presenting alongside nine other exceptional projects that won the 2023 National Healthcare Design Award. Big congrats to the whole Fora Health team. Located at the prominent intersection of N. Alberta St. and N. Williams Ave., Strong Property embodies a visual and historical significance for long-time residents of North and Northeast Portland. The project will provide 75 units of one-, two-, or three-bedroom affordable apartments.   Family-friendly amenities include a spacious community room, flex room, and community lobby, which looks out onto a shared central courtyard and play area. All these spaces will foster community among residents. Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI), Oregon’s largest African American-led nonprofit multi-service organization, will provide on-site services for residents and do outreach with an emphasis on supporting African American families earning 30% AMI or below. The Center for Tribal Nations will be a community gathering place for Indigenous peoples in the Pacific Northwest and support partnerships between Native and non-Native organizations. Holst is thrilled to announce that we are part of the team selected for this project in Portland’s Central Eastside! We're excited to have Nicolette Stauffer speak about Julia West with Nathaniel Hardy, PE, SE from KPFF Consulting Engineers at the Advancing Mass Timber Construction Conference in Nashville this September. When completed, this 12-story CLT building will provide 90 units of Permanent Supportive Housing and is expected to be the tallest timber project in Oregon.

Last Tuesday we celebrated the grand opening of the Hazel Ying Lee apartments! Located at 3000 SE Powell Blvd., it is the largest affordable housing project to be built using Portland Housing Bond funds. The project includes 206 units of affordable housing for people/families making 30% or 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Units are a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom options. The building features various amenities including a community room with a kitchen, free Wi-Fi in common areas, a computer lab, indoor and outdoor play spaces, a large laundry room, a basketball court, raised garden beds, and bike storage. Additionally, on-site services will be provided by the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization. Fabrication is underway for East County Library. The project is part of city-wide initiative to revitalize civic and library institutions. Since 2022, our team has worked on 3 separate Multnomah County Library mass timber buildings. Timberlab joined early in the preconstruction phase, providing expert engineering delegated connection design. The library features a plethora of unique connection details, many utilizing bearing shelves to enhance structural integrity. Fabrication, scheduled to span approximately three months at Timberlab's Portland facility, involves creating a variety of distinctive shapes and cuts, particularly in the unique column profiles. East County Library will incorporate roughly 1,200 pieces of glulam and 300 CLT panels. Mass Timber installation is set to commence at the end of July. The Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon (MHAAO) is a community-based nonprofit organization that supports the recovery goals of individuals. Holst has been designing the renovation of an existing medical office building that will serve as the new MHAAO Headquarters & Recovery Campus. The project will provide valuable resources to the historically underserved community in Portland’s Lents neighborhood.   The campus will include a day center, triage room, wellness room, peer support space, offices for MHAAO, and other flexible spaces to meet the evolving needs of the growing organization.
