Huge thank you to The Summit Federal Credit Union for their generous sponsorship, which will significantly support our youth-run farmers market. This initiative not only provides a platform for young entrepreneurs to gain hands-on experience but also equips them with essential skills in business management, financial literacy, and customer service. Our kiddos will run their week long market from August 12th-16th. By fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of responsibility, we are helping to prepare the next generation for future success. Summit Federal Credit Union's commitment to empowering youth is truly commendable and deeply appreciated!

Many thanks to Erie County Corrections Officer Matthew Dils and his team for providing valued support on the farm. Their forestry program, as part of the Community Reintegration Division of the Erie County Sheriff's Office, they seek to offer rehabilitative programming to incarcerated individuals in search of job training and employment-related skills. Utilizing restorative practices through agriculture is a holistic approach that aligns with their ultimate goal of reducing recidivism and promoting public safety. The participants believe in HBOF mission and we are thankful for their invested time and support!

Doing something cool!! Thank you KeyBank for facilitating financial literacy workshops that have been instrumental in preparing our youth to run their own farmers market that will run August 12th-16th. Through these workshops, our young participants have gained essential financial skills and knowledge, enabling them to effectively manage and sell the vegetables they grew during our summer program. Key Bank's commitment to empowering the next generation with practical financial education is truly commendable, and we are thrilled to see our youth applying these valuable lessons in a real-world setting. Thank you for helping us cultivate both agricultural and financial growth in our community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Buffalo Community Connectors and East Buffalo Development Corporation for partnering with HBOF to conduct a farmers market that provided fresh produce to families free of cost, on the east side of Buffalo. Thanks to your collaboration, we not only reached our goal but exceeded it by nearly threefold. We also express our gratitude to all the sponsors and volunteers whose support was instrumental in this success. We're excited to announce that we will continue distributing fresh produce to the community free of cost every other Sunday, for a total of six distributions. Youth learning to become companions with animals and cultivating healthy crops is a vital and enriching experience. Engaging with animals teaches responsibility, empathy, and the nuances of interspecies communication, fostering a deep sense of care and companionship. Concurrently, learning to grow healthy crops provides practical knowledge about agriculture, sustainability, and the importance of a balanced ecosystem. This dual education encourages a holistic understanding of nature, promoting environmental stewardship and a profound respect for the natural world. As they nurture both animals and plants, young individuals gain valuable life skills that contribute to their personal growth and community well-being.
