    Independence Day is right around the corner, which reminds us at HLK that although there have been significant strides to bring liberty and justice to all, there is SO much work that still needs to be done. Our work for ArchCity Defenders, a holistic legal advocacy group that combats the criminalization of poverty and state violence, especially in communities of color, was recently named a finalist at the Collision Awards in the Marketing & Communications-Campaign category. This is a HUGE honor as this disruptive campaign has been recognized as one of the best in the industry, competing against entries from six continents and nearly 30 countries. We’re in the running for the Gold or Silver Collision Award, decided by the Jury, as well as the Collision Audience Choice Award, voted on by the public. 🎤 So now, we need your help to bring home the win!     This month, we had the pleasure of hosting our second annual MOVES Conference at our St. Louis office, bringing together our nationwide team for a dynamic week of professional development and team building. This year, the conference centered around the theme of growth, with employees leading interactive sessions that exemplified our agency’s core values and vision. Thank you, Joe, for setting a positive example of what it’s all about!

    🌟 National Volunteer Week Spotlight 🌟 Joe Leahy, Partner & Chief Creative Officer for HLK in St. Louis, joined our CEOs Against Cancer of Missouri - St. Louis Chapter in 2019 and has wowed us with his expertise, generosity, and passion ever since! When we began fundraising for sorely needed renovations to our St. Louis Hope Lodge, HLK created a pro-bono advertising awareness campaign, “42 Doors of Hope.” Forty-two life-sized doors representing the 42 guest rooms at Hope Lodge were decorated by local artists. Each door depicted a unique cancer survivor or caregiver story, as told by the artist and their muse. Ultimately, this campaign played a big role in helping us meet our $10 million goal in record time. This is just one of the many ways Joe supports our mission day in and day out. Join us in celebrating his phenomenal contributions!

    Before Women’s History Month comes to a close, we’d like to shine a spotlight on our chief operating officer, Alison Berry, who was recently featured in the St. Louis Business Journal’s “People On The Move in St. Louis” series. Alison commemorated her 20-year anniversary with HLK recently, marking a pivotal milestone in her career. Throughout her tenure, she has been instrumental in spearheading our agency's transformative journey, playing an integral role in cultivating enduring client relationships and reworking the way cross-functional teams deliver work for our clients. As the agency’s only female partner, Alison empowers future female leaders throughout HLK and the St. Louis advertising community.     For the final day of #NationalAgWeek, we're taking a moment to celebrate the incredible work of our motion team members, Junsue Park, Justin Tolliver, Sean Ly and Matt Anselm, who are the driving force behind bringing our agricultural projects to life. 📸 From helicopters to spray planes to airboats to NASCAR cars, our team has captured the beauty and innovation of farming from every angle. 🚁🛩️🏎️🚤 Junsue, HLK content producer, explains, “There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to an ag shoot. Things like weather can completely change plans during the planting/growing/harvesting season — it’s pretty chaotic. So, we really understand the ins and outs of maximizing time and the output on these types of #productions.” But what truly sets them apart is their deep-rooted relationships with farmers and ranchers across the country. Over the years, they've built friendships and trust, allowing them to truly understand the heart and soul of #agriculture. Justin Tolliver, our post-production manager, shares his journey from small-town Indiana to the heart of farming country: “Though I grew up in a small town in Indiana with cornfields literally all around me, it's ironic that I never learned a thing about agriculture until I started a career in advertising. While I appreciate all the places my camera has allowed me to go, as fate would have it, my first real gig out of college found me trekking through a bean field.” Justin continues, “Now 10 years and hundreds of videos later, I'm still continually fascinated by the ingenuity and technological achievements that go into modern farming. I always enjoy getting a chance to step out of the edit suite every now and again, and when I'm out on an ag shoot, I can sometimes find myself a world away from the office. But these experiences have helped to forever change my perspective on something that I otherwise couldn't have appreciated, just viewing from out my car window.” Thank you, Junsue, Justin, Sean and Matt for your hands-on dedication in the field.
