It's been 4 years preparing for this moment… and now it’s time to build!
With a $3 Million grant from Enterprise Community Partners and the Wells Fargo Foundation, we will decarbonize and modernize a 7-story multifamily building in the heart of Syracuse, NY. In the birthplace of the modern HVAC industry, New York will reinvent HVAC once again.
In partnership with Cycle Architecture + Planning, Syracuse Housing Authority, Syracuse University, and BlocPower, our goal is not just to transform a single building, but to spark the revitalization of an entire community. Then to spread that model throughout the country by reducing the cost and complexity of deep retrofits.
It’s about decarbonization, but it’s also about modernizing old buildings, and getting a good return on that investment. It’s about improving the lives of people in marginalized communities that have been neglected for decades. An effort of this magnitude can only be done in partnership with stakeholders from across the construction and housing ecosystems. We’re grateful for the team that’s already come together, and believed in us, to make this project possible.
Thank you to Enterprise and Wells Fargo for launching this $20M grant competition to propel transformative housing innovations. To be 1 of 6 winners out of over 400 applications is a huge honor, and we’re thrilled to join a cohort of inspirational innovators that will drive change together, for years to come: Build Urban Prosperity (Build UP), Grounded Solutions Network, Hope Enterprise Corporation, Module, and TLINGIT AND HAIDA REGIONAL HOUSING AUTHORITY
