🔔 The International Aerospace Environmental Group ® (IAEG)  has received its carbon offset certificate for the Spring 2024 face-to-face meeting in Dallas ! Attendees were invited to choose a project identified by Removall Carbon that would offset the impact of the meeting. The Madhya Hava Project in India, whose main purpose is to generate clean electricity for renewable wind resources, was selected. The project provides job opportunities for communities around the project location, as well as distributing solar lanterns and health awareness camps to the population. The development in the area has increased the quality of basic amenities for this community in areas such as hygiene and basic education, leading to an overall increase in living standard. Additionally, the project is conducted on land considered otherwise ‘barren’ , with no other use feasible. The project activity “reduces emission of local and global air pollutants, helps conservation of natural resources” and “avoids solid waste that generally happens with conventional electricity generating technologies”. #IAEG #AerospaceIndustry #Aerospace #Aviation #AerospaceAndDefense #AviationIndustry #compliance #regulatory #environment #chemicalsafety #ESG #sustainability #GHG

🔔 The IAEG Aerospace and Defense Declarable Substances List version 8.0 is available ! To keep up with the demands of increasingly complex, global chemical substance regulatory requirements, aerospace and defense (AD) industry companies must continue to obtain and report product-related substance data. The International Aerospace Environmental Group ® (IAEG) has released an updated version of the Aerospace and Defense Declarable Substances List (AD-DSL). The AD-DSL is a common list of chemical substances that may be incorporated into AD industry products or required for product manufacture, operations, maintenance, overhaul or repair. It is intended to be used in substance declarations to obtain information from the AD industry supply chain. The information obtained through such declarations is then used to meet increasing demands on AD industry companies to report on product-related substances, as well as to support internal compliance and risk management activities. Use of the AD-DSL promotes efficiency, reduces reporting burdens on suppliers and can help minimize business disruption due to regulatory or supply chain material obsolescence risks. 🔄 This updated version 8.0 of the AD-DSL includes a revised declarable substances list that reflects changes in regulatory requirements that affect the global AD industry and updates the regulatory criteria definitions for substances that have been affected by regulatory changes. These definitions allow users to determine whether each substance is subject to product and/or material restrictions, reporting requirements, or combinations of all three. The IAEG-PL is a list of PFAS that focuses on those identified to be in active use and may be present in the AD industry products and the materials required to maintain, repair or overhaul those products. This new list is also intended to be used in substance declarations and support AD supply chain efforts. 🔔 The International Aerospace Environmental Group ® (IAEG) Work Group 9 is pleased to share an Alert on the U.S. Significant New Use Rule (SNUR): PFAS Chemical Substances Designated as Inactive on the TSCA Inventory EPA has designated 329 PFAS as inactive on the TSCA Inventory. The SNUR, effective as of 11 March 2024, prevents these 329 PFAS from reentering the marketplace and environment unless EPA first completes a full risk review and issues a determination. Specific exemptions are available for articles, byproducts, and exports only. 🔄 There is change in IAEG leadership ! 🙏 With sincerity, the International Aerospace Environmental Group ® (IAEG) would like to thank Helen Middleton from Rolls-Royce for her service as Deputy Lead for Work Group 5, REACH Authorisation. Her efforts to advance the global industry collaboration and project execution at IAEG will be missed. 👏 And, it is with great pleasure that the International Aerospace Environmental Group ® (IAEG) welcomes Michelina (O'Day) Molongoski from RTX and Abhishek Kulkarni from Boeing. Michelina is a Material Science Engineer and has worked in both the Commercial and Aerospace & Defense sectors for more than 30 years spanning topics such as R&D of high-performance ceramic materials and high-speed electrophotography copiers, and the process and manufacturing of ULE glass mirrors and mounts for space-based telescopes. During her tenure at Raytheon, she has worked within Materials Engineering as a Materials Program Lead on a variety of integrated defense programs and currently is a Raytheon Business Unit Lead for the Global Substances Program focusing on REACH, TSCA and other materials related regulations. Abhishek has 13 years of multi-disciplinary experience in aerospace materials & process technologies. He joined Boeing Research & Technology in 2011 as a member of the Chemical Technology group in Seattle, where he served as the PM/PI on technology development projects dealing with thin films for energy harvesting and flexible lighting. In 2015, he moved to production support as a materials & process consultant for Boeing Commercial Payloads/Interiors, where he primarily served as the corrosion finishes SME for multi-model programs. In June 2023, he transitioned to his current role as a Senior Chemical Policy Analyst in Boeing’s corporate Global Enterprise Sustainability (GES) organization, where he is mainly responsible for monitoring EU/UK REACH regulatory activities. 🏆 We are excited that Michelina and Abhishek quickly stepped up to ensure a smooth transition from Helen to assist Work Group 5 Lead, Joseph McCarthy  from Leonardo, for the team. Together, their knowledge, expertise and perspectives to the strategy and work product of the REACH Authorization Work Group will be impactful.
