What do you know about Senate Bill (SB 3353)?  Not much, but that's okay; we are happy to help.  #sharingiscaring The bill 🎯establishes the Community-Based Corrections Task Force to develop innovative ways to support community-based corrections and rehabilitation in the #Illinois correctional system. SB3353 will:  🎯engage community organizations, 🎯 review research on community-based alternatives to detention, and 🎯 make recommendations for statutory changes. The Task Force will assist in creating an integrated software system for gathering and publishing crime data from law enforcement agencies. Effective immediately! Let's go!

It feels good to witness exceptional work in action. ICJIA's reentry-focused #JusticeWarriors, Dr. Millicent Lewis-McCoy, Assistant Deputy Director, and Shenita Jackson, Returning Residents Coordinator, visited the Illinois Department of Corrections Pontiac facility to support Defy Ventures efforts. This organization is at the forefront of providing essential reentry services for justice-impacted individuals, offering crucial pre- and post-release support. The Entrepreneurs-in-Training (EITs) Business Pitch Competition hosted by Defy Ventures is an absolute game-changer! #feelgoodfriday

Human-center language matters! Your choice of words is a powerful indicator of your respect and value for others. Words show that you see, hear, and recognize the humanity in others. House Bill 4409 is a step in the right direction. The legislation uses justice-impacted individual[s] rather than offender[s] to describe another human. While some may not understand this is a huge deal, #JusticeWarriors do! Let’s continue dismantling policies, processes, and practices that bring hurt, harm, and pain.

Did you know the governor recently signed House Bill 2323 into law? Here's the #bill in 🎯: 🎯The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) shall establish a Uniform Statewide Crime Statistics Task Force and provide administrative and technical support to the Task Force. 🎯Members of the Task Force shall be appointed by the Executive Director of the ICJIA (also known as our lead #JusticeWarrior, Delrice Adams), and the act modifies the membership of the Task Force. Effective January 1, 2025. Let's go! 😤
